MYTH 1
Scar Pain is “just one of those things”

WRONG Early healing my cause pain, but any long-term pain can be treated.

In the first few weeks your scar is healing, and you may feel discomfort. If this discomfort turns into pain, and the pain increases you must see your GP. If this pain carries on please seek professional help. Your healthcare practitioner and scar therapist may be able to help – if the pain is connected with your scar being tight or pulling.

MYTH 2
All scars are the same

WRONG Your scar is as unique as YOU!

Just because you and your friend both had the same surgery, this does not mean that your scar will be the same as each other’s. There are so many factors to take into consideration like: hydration, nutrition, your personal scar healing DNA, your fitness levels, your age, and so much more. So don’t compare!

MYTH 3
You have to treat your scar immediately

WRONG There is no rush!

A scar takes two years to reach maturity so you have plenty of time to make a difference! Even if your scar is over 2 years old, and you are still struggling with it, then it’s NOT TOO LATE. Start to engage with your scar – you won’t be disappointed!
